ENTRETENIMENTO EM MASSA: COMO A INDÚSTRIA CULTURAL UNIFORMIZA O PENSAMENTO CONTEMPORÂNEO
The cultural industry plays a determining role in shaping contemporary thought, promoting a homogenization of ideas and symbolic consumption. Large-scale entertainment production, driven by profit and market logic, results in the standardization of cultural content, limiting the diversity of narratives and critical perspectives. The advancement of digital platforms and recommendation algorithms reinforces this trend, directing media consumption toward homogenized and predictable products. In this way, mass culture becomes an instrument of social control, shaping collective behaviors and values in favor of large media corporations. The popularization of franchises and repetitive narrative formats creates a cycle of consumption that favors the reproduction of successful formulas to the detriment of innovation and cultural plurality. Moreover, the spectacularization of entertainment turns culture into a commodity, distancing it from its critical and reflective potential. The formation of subjectivities becomes influenced by massified content that reinforces dominant ideologies and weakens society’s ability to question. In this scenario, culture's role as a means of transformation and resistance is diminished, as independent and alternative productions struggle to compete with the monopoly of major cultural industries. Thus, the homogenization of thought promoted by mass entertainment compromises the construction of a plural and critical society, limiting the reach of authentic and diverse cultural manifestations.
