Integrated nanophotonic devices and logic circuits using phase-change-materials in silicon photonics
In this work, we present integrated nanophotonic devices and logic circuits based on phase change materials (PCMs) in silicon photonics platforms. We first carried out the design and modeling of non-volatile plasmonic switch based on a PCM (GST) coated over a plasmonic slot waveguide and employed this switch for demonstrating logic-gates, plasmonic combinational logic-circuits, and plasmonic asynchronous sequential latch-circuits. We also carried out the design and numerical modeling of plasmonic digital-to-analog converter, using broadband low-loss electro-absorption hybrid plasmonic switches having near-epsilon-zero nonlinearity of TCOs, in a silicon photonics platform.
