Optimizing boron nitride nanostructures using femtosecond laser ablation for enhanced material properties
This study investigates the effect of femtosecond laser ablation on boron nitride (BN) nanoparticles, utilizing a 150[Formula: see text]mm focal lens and varying ablation durations (2, 4 and 8[Formula: see text]h). Characterization through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy revealed significant changes in particle size and morphology. SEM confirmed a transition from uneven, large aggregates to more uniform nanosized particles after ablation. DLS analysis showed a reduction in particle size, with the smallest size ([Formula: see text]80[Formula: see text]nm) observed after 8[Formula: see text]h of ablation. The UV-Vis spectra demonstrated a decrease in absorbance intensity with longer ablation times, supporting the fragmentation and dispersion observed in SEM and DLS results. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of femtosecond laser ablation in producing well-dispersed, nanoscale BN particles, highlighting its potential for applications in nanotechnology and material science.
