Softwarized Data-Driven Architecture for Edge Computing IIoT Environments: A Proof of Concept

Shifting network intelligence toward the edge offers numerous benefits, including reduced latency and enhanced privacy, for instance. Among the key 6G use cases that integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial IoT (IIoT) networks stand out for their potential to improve automation and worker safety. However, there are currently few generalizable architectural proposals that enable practical implementations. In this paper, we present and evaluate a proof of concept (PoC), which is also made publicly available for extension and improvement. While its performance could still be optimized, it is considered a solid starting point and aligned with relevant standards.
