Experimental Results on Direct Position Determination Using First-Order Scattered Reflections
This paper focuses on the passive direct localization of a narrowband emitter in an urban environment in the line-of-sight (LOS) to two array systems. First-order reflections are considered in a known urban environment, which are modeled by using the image source method (ISM) and it is assumed to exhibit scattering in comparison to the direct signal. The scattered reflected signals are modeled using the well-known generalized array manifold (GAM) model. A novel direct position determination (DPD) estimator is proposed that incorporates direct signal and first-order scattered reflections to localize a source. Simulation results reveal that the proposed DPD estimator shows an asymptotic performance to the derived Cramer-Ran Bound (CRB) for high SNR values. Furthermore, the proposed method is applied on the acoustic experimental data. Experimental results reveal that the proposed estimator improved the localization accuracy.
