The Role of Cultural Moderation on Knowledge Acquisition Through AMO HR Practice at Oil and Gas Company

The oil and gas company are a crucial sector due to significantly contributing to the global economy, and its success is heavily dependent on the effective management of human resources. This industry faces unique challenges caused by resource curses, which can negatively impact firm performance, especially in Indonesian oil and gas companies. The strategic human resource management interventions such as Ability, Motivation, Opportunity (AMO) framework with HR practices implementation can mitigate these challenges. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the role of cultural moderation on the relationship between AMO HR practices and knowledge acquisition within the context of the Indonesian state-owned oil and gas company. By using descriptive and explanatory survey, we obtain 348 respondent data taken from seven affiliation oil and gas company such as Pertamina hulu Rokan, Pertamina Offshore North West Java, Pertamina Offshore Southeast Sumatera, Pertamina Gas Negara, Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur, and Pertamina Hulu Sanga-Sanga. By using correlation analysis, the result shows 0.58 to 0.86, respectively. Here, the PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam's have the best performance as a benchmark for others to enhance their HR practices in near future.
