Scenarios of difficult management with conventional local treatments in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma
Background: The vast majority of cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas are cured only with surgical (and/or radiotherapy) treatment. However, some cases respond poorly to these treatments or are not the best therapeutic option. Therefore, it is crucial to analyze these situations in depth, as they are often not optimally addressed in clinical guidelines and in commonly used staging systems. These scenarios often require discussion in multidisciplinary committees, and some overlap with the concepts of high-risk, locally advanced, and metastatic squamous cell carcinoma.
