Clinical and pathologic findings of Atypical Spitz tumor with ALK rearrangement: case report
Background: While most melanocytic proliferations can be reliably classified based on clinical and pathological criteria, distinguishing between nevus and melanoma can be difficult or even impossible in tumours with spitzoid features.Molecular testing for these lesions may be crucial for predicting biological behaviour, prognosis, treatment options, and determining future follow-up.[1] Methods: We present a case report of Atypical Spitz tumor with ALK rearrangement. An excisional biopsy with histological and immunohistochemical examination of the material was performed to verify the diagnosis.
