AMAGGI: growing with sustainability in the grain trading business

Abstract AMAGGI is one of the main companies in Brazilian agribusiness. Operating in the areas of agricultural production (1), trading of grains (2), logistics and operations (3) and electricity production (4), AMAGGI stands out for its verticalized strategy throughout its production chain, operating: “before the farm”, with blending and commercialization of agricultural inputs; “inside the farm”, producing soybeans, corn and cotton; and “after the farm” with processing and trading of grains, in addition to logistics services for national distribution and exports. In an extremely competitive environment for trading companies, AMAGGI stands out for its growth and gaining share in the Brazilian and global markets. Due to its operations in the grain market and considering all global concerns about global warming through topics such as deforestation and gas emissions, the case demonstrates the company’s strategy to position itself as a reference for sustainable development in agribusiness. Therefore, the case enables discussions and learning regarding the ESG agenda in the sector, which is so relevant to the future of global food security. Abstract
