Feasibility of Telerehabilitation on Head and Neck Carcinoma Patients

Background: Head and neck cancer ranks as the seventh most prevalent type of cancer globally. In patients with head and neck cancer, dysphagia leads to significant negative consequences, including difficulties in swallowing, coughing, and various sensory issues. Managing head and neck cancer requires a multi-disciplinary approach that encompasses chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and rehabilitation. The value of telerehabilitation was highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Telerehabilitation facilitates the process of returning to normal life and reduces issues such as dependence, depression, and multiple side effects, while also alleviating symptoms like pain and fatigue. Aim: The objective is to assess the effectiveness of telerehabilitation for patients with head and neck carcinoma. Purpose: The aim is to introduce a new perspective on the rehabilitation process for cancer patients. Methodology: A total of 100 electronic surveys were sent to physiotherapists in Guwahati, with 60 responses collected over two weeks. Both male and female physiotherapists took part in the research. The survey included questions focused on the application of telerehabilitation in the rehabilitation process. Results: Findings indicated that 41.2% of participants were male while 58.8% were female, and 91.7% of physiotherapists expressed their willingness to include telerehabilitation as a component of rehabilitation. Conclusion: Rehabilitation is essential in the treatment journey of cancer patients, with telerehabilitation offering a novel approach in this field
