Numerical verification of performance improvement for superconducting linear acceleration system
Numerical analysis was performed to improve the acceleration performance of a superconducting linear acceleration (SLA) for injecting fuel pellets into a fusion reactor. A FEM code with the optimization algorithm was employed to analyze the shielding current density and the motion of the high-temperature superconducting film. The results of the computations indicate that, by solving a three-objective optimization problem related to the current profile in the electromagnets, the acceleration performance of the SLA system can be enhanced by roughly 20%.
