A Novel Electrochemical Sensor Employing Electropolymerized Murexide on Modified Carbon Paste Electrode with Magnetic Chitosan-Curcumin Analogue for Highly Sensitive Analysis of Acyclovir

Acyclovir (ACY) was determined electrochemically using a poly murexide modified carbon paste electrode with magnetic chitosan-curcumin analogue (p.Mur-Mag@Chi-Cur-A/CPE). The synthesized materials were analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy techniques. Electro-oxidation of ACY was investigated in Britton-Robinson (BR) buffer of pH 4.0 using cyclic, linear sweep and differential pulse voltammetric methods. The effect of change in pH, scan rate, and the concentration of ACY on the anodic peak current of the analyte was investigated. According to the chronoamperometry measurements, the value of diffusion coefficient (D) of ACY was estimated to be 5.85 × 10 −6 cm 2 /s. The calibration curve was obtained in a concentration range from 0.03 to 3.5 μM, with a detection limit (DL) and quantification limit (QL) of 7.0 and 23.0 nM, respectively. The proposed sensor proved to be applicable for the detection of ACY real samples with good selectivity, reproducibility and high sensitivity.
