Estudio, restauración y puesta en valor de las construcciones de la defensa antiaérea situadas en el cabo de Cullera (Cullera, Valencia)

Since the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, the government of the Republic built a network of military elements of defense of the coast to protect the territory under its control against the offensives of the National Army. The objective of these structures was to face attacks from enemy aircraft from the moment of their sighting and thus defend the government of the Republic installed in Valencia since November 1936. The Levant was established as the backbone of the Republic, hence the defense of the Mediterranean coastline from Sagunto to Denia with anti-aircraft batteries located in Canet, El Saler and Cullera. This article describes the data collection work carried out on the elements located on the coast of Cullera and lists the historical research that accompanies this documentation, which has served as a basis for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the whole, to continue the ongoing reconstruction and recovery work.Architectural remains of a system made up of three elements each with a different function and in a different state of conservation have survived. The three elements that make up the whole are an anti-aircraft battery, the observation and command post attached to it and a nest of machine-guns which, despite being immersed in the urban fabric, formed at some points by high buildings, are still visually connected, as they should have been. Thus, the architectural intervention is part of an integrative project that aims to conserve, restore and value existing assets and generate a museographic itinerary in which one can enjoy both the interior of these elements, as the route between them, and explain the function of each and their functional connections.
