Musealisation as a development model for medieval castles in the province of Alicante (Spain) and the Pomeranian voivodeship (Poland)
This paper analyses the musealisation strategies developed in the medieval castles of Atalaya (Villena) and Castalla in the province of Alicante (Spain), and Kwidzyn and Sztum in the Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland), within the research project devoted to the study of cultural management models in medieval castles. Musealisation is one of the forms of modern development of historic buildings. In this sense, based on the policy of reuse of cultural heritage, which is based on providing restored castles with a cultural use as museums, this study analyses the musealisations developed in these castles taking into account, among others, the following issues: their typology, the museographic and non-museographic resources used, the contents explained, the target public, etc. To this end, both qualitative and analytical methodologies were used. In terms of results, this research has allowed us to identify the similarities and differences in the musealisation strategies applied to these castles.
