Features of interpersonal communication of administrators of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine territorial service centers

Introduction. A key work function of administrators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine territorial service centers is communicating with citizens, which depends on administrators’ communicative potential. Knowledge of the features of administrators’ communication can help psychologists in selecting and placing territorial service centers administrators. Aim. To determine the features of interpersonal interaction of administrators of territorial service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (TSC) based on the implementation of psychodiagnostic capabilities of the OMV (Leary, 1957) and ORP (John, Naumann & Soto, 2008). Methods: Leary’s Interpersonal Behavior Circle (LIBC, T. Leary, 1957), as well as the Big Five Inventory (BFI, O. John, L. Naumann, & C. Soto, 2008). The comparison, systematization and generalization of research data were performed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS Statistics programs. Results. The instruments used in the study made it possible to determine the dominant types of TSC administrators’ interpersonal interaction and establish their suitability for work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system. It is important for an efficient TSC administrator to have a sthenic type of interpersonal interaction with high values of hyposthenic octants, in particular, octant 7 (cooperative-conventional type) or octant 8 (responsible-generous). Besides, the combination of the OMV and ORP allows psychologists to identify personal factors that influence the communicative potential of TSC administrators. Conclusions. OMV and ORP allow measuring TSC administrators' communicative potential, which plays a significant role in effective intergroup interaction in the TSC, as well as in communicating with TSC visitors. The findings of the study can be helpful for effective TSC staff placement and can improve TSC administrators' interaction with citizens.
