THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORK MOTIVATION AND TYPOLOGICAL PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS
Personality typologies are popular enough among HR specialists. However, the issue of the connection between work motivation and personality typologies has been little studied in the scientific literature. Purpose. The article is devoted to the study of the interdependence of the results of tests for assessing motivation and socionic and psychosofia’s characteristics, namely tests widely used by HR employees of Russian companies. Methodology. The research used the methodology for determining the socionic type, psychosofia’s type, the test for assessing motivation by V.I. Gerchikov, the career guidance test “Career Anchors” and the calculation of the point biserial correlation coefficient. Results. The correlation analysis revealed positive correlation between socionic and psychosophical characteristics and types of motivation according to V.I. Gerchikov and types of values in the profession “Career Anchors” by Edgar H. Schein. According to V.I. Gerchikov, the “Professional” type of motivation correlates with the poles “Strategy”, “Emotivism” and low will according to psychosophy, the “Owner” type of motivation correlates with principled will and unprincipled logic, and “Lumpenized” – with the poles “Introversion”, “Constructivism” and “Decision”, as well as with psychosophical process will and especially high with effective physics. According to the “Career Anchors” test by E.H. Schein, the type of “Professional Competence” correlates with the pole “Constructivism”, as well as with principled emotion and resultive will in psychosophy, the value “Management” correlates with the poles “Sensoric”, “Static” and especially high with the poles “Extroversion” and “Negativism”, and also it’s a very high correlation with the principled will in psychosophy, the “Autonomy” type correlates with the poles “Introversion”, “Democracy”, “Positivism”, “Prudence”, as well as with the unprincipled will in psychosophy. The “Job stability” type correlates with the “Sensoric”, “Strategy” poles, as well as with low emotion in psychosophy, and “Residence stability” - with the “Introversion” pole. The “Service” type has clearly high correlations with the “Ethics” and “Rationality” poles. Also positively correlates with the Tactics and Process poles, as well as psychosophical unprincipled physics. The “Challenge” type correlates with the “Process” pole, and especially high correlation with the “Static” pole, as well as with the principled will in psychosophy, and “Integration of Lifestyles” correlates with the “Introversion and “Democracy” poles. Practical implications. These findings will benefit career counselors and HR workers who, inter alia, implement socionics methods in their work, as they will help improve the quality of their services. Moreover, the findings of this study demonstrate the prospects for further study of the socionics methods construct validity. EDN: YSQEAQ
