Melanocytic nevi and sun exposure as major risk factors for CM. Hospital-based study in Lithuania
the multiple cutaneous lesions, they were diagnosed as EMM.A CTguided biopsy of the lung lesions revealed metastatic melanoma with squamous proliferation. The hypopharyngeal lesions contained atypical melanocytes in the mucosal epithelium, suggesting epidermotropism. While in situ melanoma was considered a differential diagnosis, the clinical course led to the diagnosis of hypopharyngeal metastasis of EMM.Immunostaining results suggested that the interaction between CCR10 and CCL27/28 played a crucial role in the epidermotropic metastatic pattern observed in this case. Conclusions: This case suggests that EMM may exhibit epithelial tropism not only in the skin but also in mucosal tissues.
