The Role of LH and FSH in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a reproductive endocrine disease caused by abnormal glucose metabolism and endocrine disorders, which is characterized by hyperandrogenism, rare ovulation or anovulation, insulin resistance, overweight or obesity, irregular menstruation, etc. It is one of the important reasons that plague women of childbearing age who are difficult to conceive, have children and have infertility. In PCOS, dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis is the main cause of various clinical manifestations and changes in ovarian function and structure. Follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone are important pituitary gonadotropins. During the occurrence and development of PCOS, the increase of luteinizing hormone, the decrease of FSH, and the increase of the ratio of luteinizing hormone to FSH pose important suggestive significance for the diagnosis of PCOS, and also represent certain predictive significance for the clinical prognosis after treatment of PCOS.
