Monitoring of the Technical Condition of Railway Crossings

The maintenance of artificial structures in a condition that ensures its operation without any restrictions, during their normal operation and possible extreme impacts on the object is one of the most important tasks. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the technical condition of artificial structures operated under various axial loads (sometimes 25 tons per axle) for safe operation in accordance with the requirements of the Rules of Technical Operation of Railways of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The paper presents the results of monitoring the stress-strain state of reinforced concrete superstructures of two overpasses in April 2018 and May 2023. Deflections, deformations and stresses from the effects of static loads were experimentally obtained (the TEM18 diesel locomotive was chosen as the load). To reduce deflections, 6PAO deflection meters were used, digital registration and recording of primary transducers based on strain gauges (deformations and stresses) were determined by the TENZO hardware and software complex. The authors obtained the dependences of the stress-strain state of reinforced concrete superstructures of two overpasses of standard structures, which help railway transport operational services to monitor the technical condition of artificial structures. It is also recommended to use these data for surveys and tests of similar railway bridge spans, for further monitoring of their technical condition with increasing operational loads.
