¿CÓMO ACTUAR ANTE UNA INUNDACIÓN? PERCEPCIÓN Y EXPERIENCIAS DEL ALUMNADO SOBRE LA EDUCACIÓN PREVENTIVA

The objective of this work is to analyse the perception that 3rd year ESO students from Orihuela (Alicante, Spain) have about emergency management in the face of flood risk. Methodologically, a questionnaire has been passed in which a total of 99 students who study “Geography and History” have participated. The main results obtained reveal alarming data since, for example, 25% of the participants do not know the emergency telephone number, or that 75.8% state that their educational centre does not have emergency protocols before floods. More favourable results are also found, for example, the majority recognizes that it is very important to explain the population how to act before these events (85.9%) and that, in the event of a hypothetical flood, the main response according to the students is “follow teachers' instructions and/or safety rules.” The prevention and education of floods is of vital importance, even more so taking into account certain regions exposed to these phenomena in the face of climate change scenarios. Taking into account the results obtained, the education factor can be decisive in raising awareness among the youngest cohorts, but also their families.
