THE FEATURES OF IDEAS ABOUT PARENTHOOD AND ADOPTION OF A PARENTAL POSITION

The article considers the results of studying the features of ideas about parenting in the modern socio-cultural context. The work was carried out to analyze approaches to the concept of conscious and responsible parenting and the substantive content of the concept; a list of characteristics describing ideas about parenting was determined. The authors substantiate the importance of studying social ideas about parenting from the point of view of the parental subculture. The study of ideas about conscious parenting was conducted on a sample of 2517 respondents from 23 regions of the Russian Federation. The diagnostic complex includes the study of the cognitive, emotional and behavioral components of parenting. The results revealed close connections between the cognitive and emotional components of ideas about parenting. Direct correlations were obtained between the parameters of a positive attitude towards the parental position and the nature of ideas about parenting. Acceptance of one’s own parental position is associated with strategies for interacting with the child. The article presents data characterizing the features and degree of acceptance by parents of social institutions for the development of a preschool child. Statistically significant relationships were found between the orientation of the parental position towards social institutions and value position, readiness for emotional support and acceptance of the child, the allocation of educational strategies focused on the independence of the child and the degree of awareness of parents about the peculiarities of the development and upbringing of preschool children. It was found that the basis for effective and conscious parenting is the idea of the importance of social institutions in the development of the child and the ability to accompany the child in the process of his socialization in different social contexts
