Image Processing Algorithm for Porphyromonas gingivalis Outer Membrane Vesicle Transport in Periodontal Pathogenesis*
Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) is a key pathogen in periodontal disease, releasing outer membrane vesicles (OMV) enriched with small RNAs (sRNA). This study presents an image processing algorithm that combines density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) and polar coordinate conversion to identify and track the OMV movement within host cells, which is crucial for understanding their role in disease pathogenesis. Preliminary results indicate effective tracking and visualizing of OMV trajectories during endocytosis, providing insights into OMV-sRNA delivery mechanisms and their impact on host cell function.
