Study on the Properties of Ag–Cr 2 AlC Composite as a Sliding Electrical Contact Material
The arc erosion characteristics and the tribological properties of Ag–Cr 2 AlC composite materials are investigated systematically. The eroded traces on Ag–Cr 2 AlC surfaces, varying with composition, exhibit different dispersion degrees. Notably, Ag‐30 vol% Cr 2 AlC material exhibits the lowest arc energy and breakdown current. After arc erosion, Ag–Cr 2 AlC surface shows sputtered‐particle morphology with formed Ag 2 O, Cr 2 O 3 , and Al 2 O 3 . Furthermore, the effects of composition (10–40 vol% Cr 2 AlC), rotational speed (200–500 r min −1 ), and load (20–60 N) on friction coefficient, wear rate, and surface roughness are comprehensively analyzed, elucidating the underlying tribological mechanisms.
