On-Chip Sb2Se3 Metasurfaces for Programmable Optical Routing: A Genetic Algorithm Approach
Interferometer meshes underlie many new technologies for fully programmable optical circuits; however, their large footprint restricts their scalability. A new approach for on-chip programmable optical routing based on integrated one-dimensional Sb<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Se<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> phase change metasurfaces on the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform is presented here. In the presented scheme, silicon functions as the light guide and Sb<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Se<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> provides the means for reconfigurability.
