Distributed Beam Pattern Design Scheme in Multi-Satellite System

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites have attracted wide attention due to their advantages of flexible networking, low transmission latency and wide coverage. Beam-hopping technology can circumvent inter-beam interference through spatial isolation and frequency multiplexing, thus significantly increasing the capacity of LEO communication satellites. However, traditional multi-satellite beam-hopping schemes are mostly centralized strategies which put all decision-making tasks on one decision center, and their computational complexity will surge with the increase of the number of satellites. Therefore, this paper proposes a distributed multi-satellite beam-hopping algorithm (DMS-BH) that treats each satellite as a rational decision maker, according to a probability-based inter-satellite interference assessment method, each satellite capable of deciding time slot simultaneously. Simulation results show that the DMS-BH can achieve the trade-off between illuminating more hotspot cells and reducing co-channel interference.
