Hydrogen Energy Storage-based DC Energy Hub for Regenerative Braking Energy Utilization in Electrified Railways
This paper presents a hydrogen energy storage-based DC energy hub for the utilization of regenerative braking energy (RBE) in electrified railways. The proposed system features a back-to-back converter topology that integrates the hydrogen energy storage system at the DC bus. The operation principle of the proposed system, including RBE utilization and power quality enhancement, is analyzed. To ensure the effective operation of the proposed hydrogen energy storage-based DC energy hub under complex operational conditions of railway power supply system, a hierarchical control strategy is then developed to achieve power management and converter control. Finally, the performance and effectiveness of the proposed system are validated through comprehensive simulation under different load conditions of railway power supply system.
