Small-Signal Stability Analysis of Grid-Tied GFL/GFM VSCs System
Due to the increasing penetration of renewable energy, the system’s short circuit ratio (SCR) will decrease, and the risk of system instability will increase. Therefore, it is necessary to incorporate grid-forming (GFM) converters to enhance system stability. Thus, a small-signal model of the grid-tied grid-following/grid-forming voltage source converters (VSCs) system is established, and the system’s steady-state operating point and small-signal stability are analyzed. It is concluded that GFM converters can provide voltage support for the system and improve its small-signal stability. The simulation model result in Simulink verifies the analysis.
