“FLOR DE RETAMA” A CANÇÃO E A LUTA PELA GRATUIDADE DA EDUCAÇÃO
Dances and songs – since the time of the Incas, century XIII to XVI – have always been instruments to keep alive the memory and customs of the people of the Peruvian Andes, transmitted orally from generation to generation, serving to transmit knowledge about different aspects of the life. Songs always carries a history and many of them with knowledge that marked the history of different societies, it is up to us to ensure that these events do not fall into oblivion. Ricardo Dolorier Urbano tells through “Flor de Retama” the testimony of those who fought against oppression – in this case the military dictatorship from 1968 – to claim the right to free education. The memory of events of uprisings of peoples clamoring for rights serves as support so that new generations – especially those belonging to vulnerable groups – do not become discouraged and demand what is rightfully theirs.
