Características geomorfológicas do Chapadão Ocidental do São Francisco como subsídio para a análise dos usos dos solos
The objective of this work is to evaluate how the geomorphological characteristics of the Western Chapadão of São Francisco can support the analysis of land uses in the Agro-export Region of Western Bahia. To achieve these objectives, the following methodological procedures were adopted: data collection from MapBiomas, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and Sig-Bahia, with subsequent production of thematic maps and tables with data on temporary and permanent crops in each municipality of the Western Bahia Agro-Export Region. The geomorphological characteristics of Chapadão, namely: low slopes (0-5%) and low roughness, are extremely favorable for establishing the predominant type of land use in the region: export agriculture. Regarding permanent crops, coffee cultivation was the most prominent in the municipalities of Barreiras, Luís Eduardo Magalhães and São Desidério. In temporary agriculture, 3 crops stand out among the others and are present in all municipalities: soybeans, corn and cotton, and they occupy areas greater than 10,000 hectares; soybeans occupy more than 100,000 hectares.
