Problems and Prospects of the Italian Diasporas of North and South America in the Context of the “Great Italian Emigration”
The article analyzes the current state of the Italian diasporas formed as a result of the “Great Italian emigration” of the late 19th — late 20th centuries in the regions of North and South America. The conditions of existence of diasporas are studied in the cultural, social, political and economic context. The specificity of the conditions of existence of diasporas in various countries of North and South America is emphasized, which leads in some cases to an exacerbation of national self-awareness, and in others, on the contrary, to assimilation with the local population. Analyzing various aspects of the culture of Italian migrants in the New World, the author comes to the conclusion that Italian culture remains extremely stable in almost all changing external circumstances.
