Design and simulation of FIR filter based on ModelSim platform
With the wide application of intelligent devices in various fields, the role of digital signal processing is becoming more and more important, and the FIR filter is worth studying in depth because of its flexibility and ability for different signal processing. Based on the traditional FIR filter theory and combined with MATLAB, this paper designs a FIR filter with simple structure, flexible adjustment of tap parameters and significant filtering effect, which is mainly used for the processing of sinusoidal signals. The input signal generation module adopts the basic principle of ADC to generate a digital signal in the form of a sine wave; the tap parameters of the filter are determined by MATLAB and combined with the IP core in the Quartus platform to generate a synthesizable filter design, and the output module outputs both the original sinusoidal waveform and filtered signals based on the principle of DAC. The whole project is written in Verilog language and compiled and simulated in Quartus as well as Modelsim platform to obtain the waveform comparison between the original signal and the filtered signal. The results show that the filter effectively filters out the high-frequency input and the output signal has good stability, which fully proves that the FIR filter designed in this paper has excellent performance.
