Research on techniques for radiation dose monitoring and 3D reconstruction of radiopharmaceutical distribution in patients with thyroid diseases treated with I-131

To address the demand for monitoring the dose distribution of I-131 in patients undergoing treatment for thyroid diseases, we have developed and designed a measurement methodology centered around a scintillating fiber dose distribution detection system. This innovative approach integrates data interpolation algorithms with spatial filtering techniques, enabling a three-dimensional reconstruction of the patient's entire body dose while effectively filtering out anomalous values. The efficacy and reliability of our method were rigorously validated through a comparative analysis involving actual measurements from 30 patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The results obtained demonstrated a high degree of accuracy and consistency. Moreover, our findings highlight the capability of this technology to provide intuitive visualizations of radiation dose distributions within patients. This offers invaluable technical insights for medical professionals to comprehend the distribution and absorption patterns of I-131 radioactive drugs within the patient's body. Given its potential, this technology holds significant promise for clinical applications in the future.
