3D geological modeling and prospecting significance of Mianhuakeng Uranium deposit in Northern Guangdong Province
At present, several granite-type uranium fields have been discovered in the Zhuguang area in northern Guangdong, which is one of the important uranium ore gathering areas in China. Mianhuakeng Uranium Deposit, which is large in scale and deep in the vertical range of mineralization, occurs in the southeast of the Zhuguang rock mass. As one of the few large uranium deposits in the process of mining, Mianhuakeng Deposit has a long history of development and research, along with relatively complete exploration data. To meet the further mining needs, the prospecting of deep concealed ore bodies has become the current research focus. In this study, the metallogenic geological setting, genetic types and metallogenic epochs of Mianhuakeng Uranium Deposit based on the theory of metallogenic geological anomalies and the existing exploration data, and the prospecting geological model of Mianhuakeng Uranium Deposit was established. The following models were mainly constructed in this study: surface model, rock mass model, structural alteration zone model, ore body model and uranium component anomaly model. Such models could more intuitively display the 3D (three-dimensional) distribution characteristics of the terrains, rock masses, structures, alteration zones and mineralization bodies in the whole Mianhuakeng Deposit as well as their mutual relationships. This study will be of great theoretical and practical application significance for analyzing the favorable metallogenic areas and the further prospecting directions, delineating the ore-hunting prospective areas and prospecting target areas, and carrying out deep drilling and site selection work.
