Development of a structural dynamic deflection measurement system based on computer vision
Displacement measurement methods can generally be categorized into two main types: contact and non-contact methods. The traditional contact-based displacement monitoring methods have many disadvantages, such as difficulty in meeting accuracy requirements in different scenarios, low efficiency, high costs. To overcome these disadvantages, this study develops a new structural dynamic deflection measurement system based on computer vision. The system integrates hardware like industrial cameras and lenses with software such as Digital Image Correlation (DIC), cloud platforms. A shear test of an isolation bearing was applied to verify the reliability of the proposed system. The dynamic displacement of the isolation bearings was measured by the proposed system and a commercial deflection meter named BJQN-V3.0. The results show that the displacement measured by the proposed system is consistent with the displacement measured by BJQN-V3.0. The proposed system can provide stable and reliable monitoring results can be provided in a variety of application scenarios.
