Analysis of Scientific Literacy Ability Based on Energy Conservation Socio-Scientific Issues (ECSSI) of High School Students
The 21st century is marked by the rapid development of technology and education, which require humans to have scientific literacy skills. Changes in the quality of society can also cause problems such as a lack of understanding of science, including the energy crisis. However, Indonesia's scientific literacy based on the PISA 2022 results is still low. This can be improved by innovating learning models that include ECSSI to improve students' scientific literacy skills regarding environmental issues. This research used random sampling with a total of 60 students involved. Most students' scientific literacy abilities are at a functional level, equivalent to level 2 of the OECD scientific literacy scale. Students have a high interest in ECSSI learning, but this is still not balanced with ECSSI-related learning activities. Based on these findings, ECSSI can be applied in learning models such as the PBL model with the SETS approach, which uses authentic real-world problems to develope effective solutions.
