HOW A FULL-SCALE INVASION CHANGED THE PUBLICATION "TEXTY.ORG.UA": THEMATIC VIEW
The article analyzes the evolution of topics and methods of presenting materials in the "Data Journalism" section of the publication "Texty.org.ua" before and after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The study is particularly relevant in the context of the significant transformations that have occurred in the Ukrainian media landscape, especially in the field of data journalism, which reflects the shift in societal information priorities during wartime. The war has necessitated a reorientation of media practices to address urgent issues and adapt to the needs of an audience seeking accurate, timely, and relevant information. The research employs a comparative analysis methodology to examine the thematic focus of publications over two distinct periods: the 2 years and 7 months preceding the invasion and a comparable period following it. Articles were selected and categorized into key thematic areas, such as ecology, politics, corruption, war, economy, and international relations, among others. This classification highlights how the emphasis on certain themes has evolved in response to the invasion and the broader wartime context. The findings are essential for understanding how war impacts media priorities, the role of open data in shaping narratives, and the broader implications for journalistic practices in a crisis environment. The insights gained contribute to the broader discourse on the resilience and transformation of media during periods of conflict. This analysis serves as a valuable resource for media professionals and researchers, aiming to comprehend the interplay between journalism, open data, and societal needs in times of war.
