DOCUMENTARY SOURCES FROM THE HISTORY OF THE ODESA REAL SCHOOL OF ST. PAUL
Ukraine's integration into the European community has raised the question of the appropriate level of education and its reform, including in secondary school. This requires appropriate updates, qualitative changes in its structure, content, methods and means of teaching, new organizational and pedagogical approaches. New demands are arising for secondary education, they require not only knowledge and skills, but also the development of personal qualities, social and professional mobility of a person. Reforms in the educational sector of Ukraine, which are aimed at creating a national system of school education taking into account the best examples of world and domestic experience, require more active use of historical achievements and traditions of Ukrainian education. One of the directions of such traditions is real education, which gave skills for professional activity, oriented students to acquire applied professions. Among them is the Odesa Real School of St. Paul. This publication examines documentary sources on the history of the school, which are divided into narrative – in the form of memories of school graduates about classmates, teachers, the educational process, everyday life and archival sources. It was found that the latter are presented by a separate fund in the State Archives of the Odesa region, which contains more than 4.5 thousand cases. The materials of the fund “Odesa Real School of St. Paul” have documents on the history of the formation and reorganization of the school, the educational process, the composition of students and teachers, and auxiliary personnel who worked during the 1970s to 1920.
