Flipped Classroom: An Innovative Approach for the Advancement of Medical Education

Sir, In the advancing field of medical education, innovative and advance teaching methods are important to improve the learning techniques. The “flipped classroom” (FC) model is an innovative approach, which transforms traditional learning method into an interactive learning method. The FC model antitheses the conventional teaching process where students first engage with new study material outside the classroom through online lectures and readings. The class is then dedicated to interactive activities which include discussion, problem-solving exercises, and hands-on practice. These phases allows students to apply knowledge in practicals, helping in understanding of the study material.[1] FC model gradually increases the involvement of students in the classroom. The lectures outside of the classroom practices students for meaningful discussions and collaborative activities. This active involvement helping students for the better understanding of complex concepts, where critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.[2] The FC model improves the learning of students by exploiting the application and analysis rather than adopting information. Students can work through realistic scenarios during class, filling the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice which enhances student’s practical skills and the ability to modify in the learning speed. With online lectures and online materials, students can learn easily and quickly. This learning style helps students to adapt the educational experience and improve overall knowledge.[3] The FC model increased interaction with faculty is also a significant advantage. Now, focused on interactive student-centered activities, class time allows for more direct engagement between students and faculties. This advance method helps a supportive learning surrounding where students can ask, solve queries, and receive immediate feedback.[1] Significant investment requires in initial preparation for creating high-quality online content and designs for engaging in-class activities is the main challenge in implementing the FC model in medical education. Faculty members need limited time and resources to improve these materials and adapt teaching strategies effectively. Students used to traditional learning method may initially struggle with the flipped model. For the success of FC model, it is very important that students should understand the benefits and expectations of this model.[4] Technological barriers are also challenge, as students must have strong internet access and digital devices to interact with online materials. Successfully integrating the FC model in medical education, faculty training is essential so that faculty members will adapt skills and knowledge to use this technology and effectively facilitate interactive learning surrounding.[5] In conclusion, the FC model represents a valuable innovation in medical education that enhances student involvement, deep learning, and greater interaction with faculty members. Integrating this approach could significantly enhances the quality of medical education and better prepare students for the future medical careers. Financial support and sponsorship Nil. Abstract
