Premières observations au Luxembourg de Buxbaumia viridis (Bryopsida, Buxbaumiaceae)
Buxbaumia viridis, a bryophyte species listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive (JOCE 1992), is widespread in Central Europe. In Luxembourg, sporophytes of B. viridis had not yet been observed. Recent observations have shown that, although the sporophyte of B. viridis is rare, the gametophyte or protonema of Buxbaumia viridis and the propagules (gems) formed are a reliable indication of the species’ presence. In consequence, during a survey in November 2024, the presence of B. viridis protonema and gemmae could be documented on three sites in Luxembourg.
