PROBLEM OF TRANSLATING TEXTS WITH NON-EQUIVALENT VOCABULARY FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE CULTURE MASTERING

The article raises the problem of translating authentic texts into Russian. In particular, the author talks about the difficulties of translating non-equivalent vocabulary. To solve this problem, the author suggests using different translation strategies and techniques, namely transliteration, calculus, and descriptive translation or translation commentary. The author notes the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques. The article substantiates the importance of studying foreign language culture when translating non-equivalent vocabulary in humorous texts.
