THE APPLICATION OF BOPPPS TEACHING MODEL TO IMPROVE ENGLISH READING SKILL OF GRADE FIVE STUDENTS IN CHINA
This study aimed to compare the English reading skills of Chinese fifth-grade students before and after the implementation of the BOPPPS teaching mode. It also examined the satisfaction of Chinese fifth-grade students with the BOPPPS teaching model in their learning of English reading skills. The sample group consisted of 40 fifth-grade grade students from a primary school located in Wuhua District, Kunming, Yunnan Province. Quantitative data were collected through four lesson plans, a pre-test, a post-test, and a questionnaire. The mean, standard deviation, and matching method were used to analyze the sample using the t-Test. Data collection lasted for four weeks. The results revealed a pre-test mean score of 78.03 (SD = 9.90) and a post-test mean score of 82.63 (SD = 9.61), indicating an improvement in academic performance. The results showed that the BOPPPS model enhanced reading skills, engagement, and efficiency, fostering interest and motivation among the students. This study provided new ideas on improving English reading skills among fifth-grade students in China using the BOPPPS model.
