Synergistic effects of different organic sources on economics feasibility of Ber (Zizyphus mauritiana lam.) cv. Apple under sodic soil conditions

Present study was conducted at Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Ayodhya, to evaluate the synergistic effect of different organic manure sources on the economic feasibility of ber (Zizyphus mauritiana Lam.) cv. Apple under sodic soil conditions. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) having nine treatments and three replications was used, incorporating various combinations of organic sources. Soil degradation is a major challenge in modern times, significantly affecting crop productivity and sustainability. Among various soil-related constraints, sodic soil conditions are particularly detrimental to plant growth due to high pH, poor soil structure, and limited nutrient availability. Sustainable soil management practices, including the application of organic sources, have gained prominence as effective strategies to enhance soil health and improve crop performance. Organic sources such as farmyard manure (FYM), vermicompost, photosynthetic bacteria (PNSB), Jeevamrit, and Amritpani have been recognized for their potential to improve soil structure, enhance microbial activity, and increase nutrient availability were used in this experiment. Their combined application could serve as an eco-friendly approach to mitigate the adverse effects of sodicity, thereby promoting sustainable ber production. Key parameters recorded included economic attributes such as gross return, net return, and cost-benefit ratio. The findings of this study provide valuable knowledge about the role of organic sources in improving ber economic feasibility under sodic soil conditions.
