The theme encompasses private governance with an emphasis on the analysis of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) certification, on the parameters of sustainability and innovation of the Brazilian agribusiness. The justification is revealed by the growing concerns about environmental degradation, climate change and the demand for food worldwide. The justification is revealed by the growing concerns about environmental degradation, climate change and the demand for food worldwide. Such challenges require sustainable production that does not affect the maintenance and competitiveness of agribusiness. In this context, the question emerges of how private certification initiatives, such as RTRS, have contributed to facing socio-environmental challenges related to the growth of agribusiness in Brazil and the demand for sustainability criteria in the production of commodities, such as soy. Thus, the main objective of the study was to analyze the control measures implemented by the private sector, such as the adoption of certifications and participation in the RTRS, and their impact on the soybean production chain in the country, highlighting the relevance of sustainability and innovation in agriculture. The hypothesis was that RTRS certification is capable of guaranteeing quality and safety in the soybean production chain, adding value to the product and growth in the Brazilian agribusiness sector. To this end, bibliographical research was developed, using the deductive method, with a qualitative and exploratory approach, based on data extracted from laws, scientific articles, documents, and websites. It was concluded that RTRS certification promotes innovation in the agribusiness sector, by introducing new governance in soy production, through requirements for environmentally correct, socially fair and economically viable practices, thus encouraging sustainability in agricultural production.
