Comparative Analysis of MVDR Beamformer with Conventional Beamformer for the Efficient Interference Reduction by Null-Forming for Radar Applications

This paper offers the idea of a minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer in order to reduce interference by null-forming in an efficient way as compared with the conventional beamformer (CBF), and the research conveys the idea. The study is carried out by analyzing the radiation pattern of the CBF and MVDR beamformers for various numbers of interference power levels and inter-element spacing. The CBF and MVDR beamformers are tested to see how well they work in a number of different situations involving the source direction and interference signals. When it comes to eliminating interference, however, the MVDR beamformer has proven to be more accurate than the CBF. To further validate the MVDR beamformer's performance, this study demonstrates its simulation-based implementation in a phased array monostatic radar system.
