Influence of Ultrasonic Treatment on the Structure and Properties of Molten Systems

Ultrasonic treatment of melts shows various positive effects such as structuring, degassing and improved filtration, which has a positive effect on the formation of a homogeneous metal structure during crystallization. The use of ultrasound allows introducing various composite elements and refractory alloys into the metal during modification, resulting in a direct effect on the crystal lattice. The article presents calculations of the properties of elastic waves, characteristic features in the behavior of polytherms of the sound absorption coefficient. Methods are proposed that allow us to determine with sufficient reliability the absence or presence of structural changes during heating of the melt. Methods for implementing all sorts of structural transformations in the same melt in different temperature ranges are considered. The absorption and propagation velocity of ultrasound calculated using several batches of samples with different heating temperatures are studied. The article discusses the results of a series of laboratory studies to assess the absorption and propagation velocity of ultrasound, to calculate the propagation velocity of ultrasound in solutions, nucleation, growth and fragmentation of particles in liquid meltsThe results obtained provide valuable new ideas and knowledge that open up new possibilities for scaling ultrasonic treatment of melts to an industrial level.
