Tratamento com frações de extratos de Caesalpinia peltophoroides em camundongos: avaliação mutagênica, antimutagênica e metabólica
The aim of this study was to evaluate the methanol and ethyl acetate fraction of leaf and flower of Caesalpinia peltophoroides as mutagenic and antimutagenic ability, and metabolic effects. Sixty Swiss mice were divided into ten groups with n=6 each. The mice were weighed at the beginning and end of treatment and daily received orally 150 mg/kg of ethyl acetate fraction of flower (AFL) or leaf (AFO); or else methanolic fraction of flower (MFL) or leaf (MFO), or water for 15 consecutive days. On the 15th day, the mice were divided half in each group to receive saline (S) or 25 mg/kg of cyclophosphamide (CPA), and there was also the presence of positive and negative control groups (no plant fraction, only S or CPA, respectively). After 24 h, the mice were killed, and the biological material were collected. The plant fractions were analyzed by liquid chromatography method, in which all fractions characterized as violet spectrum. The frequency of micronuclei compared to the positive control group was 60.1% for AFL, 55% for MFO, 51.7% for AFO and 48.3% for MFL. There was a decrease in HDL levels in all treatments, without interference of the CPA. The ALT activity increased in the treatment with the AFL and decreased in the AFO. Therefore, we conclude that C. peltophoroides extracts, although not hepatoprotective, it has presented as antimutagenic.
