TThe processes of starting and accelerating a freight train with an electric locomotive equipped with a controlled excitation converters

An effective circuit solution and algorithms of automatic control of electric locomotives of 3EС5K “Ermak” type with the capacity of 9840 kW of alternating current based on the application of controlled bridge IGBT converters shunting the excitation windings of traction motors with the capacity of 820 kW are developed. It made it possible to realize trac-tion characteristics of independent and series excitation of motors, as well as to perform axial and bogie control of elec-tric locomotive traction force. To solve the problems of structural and parametric synthesis of the proposed power elec-tric scheme of the electric locomotive, the calculations with the use of methods of mathematical modeling of electro-magnetic, electromechanical and mechanical processes in Matlab/Simulink environment were performed, which con-firmed the possibility of implementing the scheme of individual control of traction electric motors currents and their excitation currents. The developed power scheme and algorithm of axial and bogie control of traction force with the use of controlled excitation converters provide smooth increase of this force and improve the conditions of traction of elec-tric locomotive wheels with rails. The results of the performed calculations confirmed the advantages of the proposed power electric scheme of the electric locomotive.
