Study on Two-port Dual and Multi-Band MIMO antennas for 5G Sub-6 GHz Band

In this paper a comparative study on the design techniques used for the dual-band and multi-band MIMO antennas in the 5G Sub 6 GHz range is performed. Furthermore, the vital characteristic features of the two-port dual-band, multi-band MIMO antenna designs were also discussed. It is found through the review of literature that, most of the work was concentrated on optimizing the performance with the compact nature of the antenna by employing various techniques such as fractal geometry, inverted L-shaped slots, Defected Ground Structures (DGS), multi-slots, neutralization, Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures and Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS). It is also found that techniques such as DGS, the introduction of Parasitic elements and stubs, resonating structures, and partial ground structures were preferred in the Sub-6GHz Band for simple dual-band operation.
