Microstructure evolution, texture and mechanical properties of hot rolled 4043 aluminum-silicon alloy under short-term annealing
This paper takes the 4043 Aluminum–Silicon Alloy as the research object and conducts hot rolling under different under-pressing quantities and inter-pass annealing conditions. The influence of inter-pass short-time annealing on the microstructure evolution (grain structure, dislocation density and texture) and mechanical properties of hot-rolled Al–Si alloy is studied. Microstructure characterization shows that after inter-pass short-time annealing, the material undergoes significant static recovery, resulting in more subgrain structure and recrystallization structure, accompanied by a decrease in dislocation density. Moreover, at a smaller deformation amount, Goss texture dominates. With the enhancement of shear effect during rolling, the dominant texture in α-fiber changes from Goss texture to P texture, and short-time annealing increases the proportion of Cube texture in the sample. Mechanical results show that compared with the hot-rolled sample (HR75), the sample annealed by short-time annealing and hot rolling (AHR75) only sacrifices 4 % of the tensile strength, but significantly increased the elongation by 153 %. The tensile strength is primarily attributed to a more dispersed dislocation distribution, higher dislocation density, and grain boundary strengthening mechanisms, while the high elongation is mainly due to the increase in Cube texture proportion.
