Routine pulse oximetry testing for newborn babies: a framework for practice
Pulse oximeters should display a valid European Conformity Marking (CE), UK Northern Ireland Conformity marking (UKNI) or UK Conformity Assessed marking (UKCA), and compatible reusable pulse oximeter probes are recommended. Any member of the team caring for mothers and babies can perform the test if they have been appropriately trained. The baby's parents should be informed about the test in advance of the test being performed, in a language that meets their needs.
